Our new VRBO in Tucson!

Long Time No Blog… I know.

I promise you I had a good reason for not taking time to type. For now, I wanted to get you the pictures I promised of our new house in Tucson.

We have the house listed on VRBO and it is renting like crazy! I know why: Tucson is a great place to vacation! The weather is fabulous (yes, the summers can be a bit hot but that doesn’t seem to deter vacationers who know how to use a pool), the scenery is breathtaking and the town has lots to do (besides tons of biking, hiking and golfing)! And, of course, our house is simply AWESOME!

Tucson is known for its saguaros. I was surprised to learn they live almost 200 years and can weigh up to 5,000 lbs! My thanks to Joshua Barnett for this incredible pic!

My parents, CoCo and I (and other family members) stayed at our Tucson house for a few weeks to get it ready to be listed as a “luxury vacation home.” That means, we did a lot of shopping. We furnished the house from top to bottom, stocked the kitchen, picked out art work, filled the linen closets, and painted a few rooms.

We wanted the house to feel like a warm, comfortable, inviting home. Based on our first rental review, I’d say we hit the nail on head. She even said our home was “dog friendly”… I think it’s because I picked out the dog dishes and mats!

Now, A Little Bit About Our Tucson Home

The home is in the Oro Valley Country Club (actually on a hill overlooking the golf course). We also have incredible views of the Tortilita and Catalina mountains. At night, the sparkle of the city lights rivals the sparkle of the stars. It is incredibly beautiful. But let me get on with the pictures of the house…

Front Yard

Our vacation rental home is 3 bedrooms with 2.5 baths. It is all on one level (no steps? what fun is that?!). I really love the driveway, which is big and has space to turn vehicles around (when a big bus isn’t parked in it, that is).

The pavered, circular drive is big enough for several cars. I just love the sunsets around our home!

A handmade fountain of a Joshua tree sits in front of the house. The fountain was made by an artist in nearby Tubac. My parents like the sound of the fountain. I like the water.

Tucson VRBO, fountain
Dad met the artist who made the fountain. The fountain is shaped like a Joshua Tree and it makes the most peaceful sounds as the water travels through it. The birds love it too!

The entrance is wide and inviting.

I love the double red doors surrounded by windows.

Living Room

When you step inside, you enter the living room.

I love our bus but having 2,000+ more square feet to stretch out in was sure nice! This is our living room.

The ceilings are high and there is no carpeting in the house. My parents like that but I think it’s a bit slippery.

High ceilings and lots of windows give you an open feeling in this beautiful room that overlooks the patio and pool.

The living room opens onto the backyard patio. I adore the windows in this house! CoCo and I enjoyed sleeping on the leather couch.

When you open the two front doors in the living room, you see the peaceful fountain.

The kitchen is to the right of the living room.

The living room opens into a large kitchen.

Dining Room

The dining room is also to the right of the living room. The windows of the dining room look out onto the front yard, with the beautiful fountain.

What a great dining room! Windows with views! And it’s just a few steps from the kitchen.

The dining room is off the kitchen, which has a wine cooler and stainless steel appliances.

My dad, the “naked chef,” didn’t want to leave the kitchen. It has lots of counter space and a gas cooktop.

The previous owners had remodeled the kitchen and the master bedroom/bath. They did a really good job, using upgraded tile, appliances and finishes. The skylight in the kitchen lets in a ton of light.

The sink in the big kitchen is quite unusual. It’s made from smooth pebbles.

The kitchen is good-sized – enough for a few people to work preparing a meal. There is a lot of counter space and storage space.

My mother loves the counter space, the storage space and the walk-in pantry!

On the other side of the kitchen is the kitchen nook where we eat sometimes (but mostly we eat outside on the patio since the weather is so nice).

This is the breakfast nook. We ate a few meals here but mostly ate outside since the weather and the views were perfect.

Family Room

The kitchen has a counter bar and overlooks the family room.

Family room
Talk about a comfy chair! I spent quite a few hours lounging in the corner chair… watching everyone else work in the kitchen.

The family room is cozy and is good for kicking back while someone else prepares your meal. I’ve done that a lot.

Family room
This is the family room or sitting room. It is a good place to curl up and read a good book… or blog.

My favorite chair in the house is this one in the corner in the family room. I fit perfectly in it.

Family room
And one more view of the sitting room so you can see all the windows. The windows are one of the things I love most about my Tucson home!

Master Bedroom and Bathroom

The master bedroom is big. Really big. There is a king sized bed. I like it. There is room for all of us in that bed!

This bedroom is truly a relaxing retreat.

There are French doors (leading to the patio) and big windows in the master bedroom. I wake up to the sunrise every morning. And then I fall back asleep.

This suite is so comfortable and spacious. Every day feels like you are in a spa.

If I could see colors, I know I’d like the ones in this room.

The suite is big! There is lots of room to move around (and throw dog toys)!

The master bathroom is spacious too.

Bathroom vanity
Lots of storage space!

And it includes a big shower and a large soaking tub that overlooks the city lights.

Tub and shower
The shower is big, two people or one person and a dog could fit comfortably. The tub is only big enough for one person or two people who really like each other. But definitely could not fit a dog.

Bedroom #2

The second bedroom has a queen-sized bed and overlooks the fountain out front.

Every bedroom has a tranquil feeling.

The second bedroom also connects directly to a full bath, which has another entry from the hallway.

This bedroom has a door directly into the hall bathroom.

Guest Bathroom

The bath off the second bedroom has a full shower/bath.

Even the bathrooms have a relaxing feel about them.

Bedroom #3

The third bedroom is near the family room.

I really like this bedroom. It is kind of off by itself and feels cozy yet open. I like the plantation shutters too.

There is also a half bath near the third bedroom and family room, just off the dining room.

Powder room
This is the powder room. It feels sophisticated with its deep tones.

Laundry Room

A large washer and dryer are in the big laundry room.

Laundry room
This is a big laundry room! And it has a closet and lots of cabinets… and a painting of a handsome dog.

Back Yard

Now, onto the back yard! My favorite place!

At first, I was puzzled by the creature that crawled along the bottom of the pool. Then I figured out it was an automatic pool vacuum.

I haven’t gone for a swim yet in the heated pool. There are steps but I haven’t quite figured them out. Until I do, I won’t swim in the pool (voluntarily)!

The pool is heated so you can swim in it even during the winter months.

We ate most of our meals outside on the patio.

With low humidity and comfortable temperatures, we spent most of our time outside.

Three sets of French doors open onto the patio: from the living room, from the kitchen, and from the master bedroom.

Outside dining
This is where we ate most of our meals. Everyone loved the comfortable chairs too!

The yard is big and fenced! I spent hours out here. My parents spent hours in the 6-person hot tub.

Backyard view
The afternoons in Tucson are beautiful but the sunsets are better!

The patio is flagstone and it goes around the yard.

There are several seating areas in the backyard… perfect for entertaining!

Oh, the views! And this is just from one side of the yard!

Oro Valley view
Everywhere you look from the backyard is breathtaking!

The night skies are incredible.

Sunsets in Tucson from a hot tub are close to paradise!

Bridgitte in the Sunset

Did I say the night skies are incredible?

I am going to miss Tucson!
